Job Title: Conveyor Technician

Job Description

The Conveyor Technician role is based in Olive Branch, MS and focuses on troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex mechanical and electrical issues within conveyor systems and other warehouse machinery. In this position, you provide daily maintenance for conveyor systems, material handling equipment (MHE) batteries, and battery stations, including watering and general upkeep. You also support facility housekeeping, general building maintenance, and preventive maintenance of fire extinguishers, dock doors, dock levelers, and other warehouse equipment while working closely with the maintenance team to maintain a safe, efficient, and highly functional work environment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues on conveyor systems and related warehouse machinery.
• Perform daily maintenance on conveyor systems, including inspection, adjustment, cleaning, and replacement of worn components.
• Provide daily maintenance and upkeep of MHE batteries and battery stations, including proper watering and handling procedures.
• Maintain and repair material handling systems, including gears, chains, pulleys, belts, electric gear motors, rollers, and controls.
• Maintain and repair sorter systems, including laser scanners, computers, and electronic components, ensuring reliable operation.
• Understand overall system flow and safely start, stop, and clear jams on conveyor and sortation equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, dismantling, lubrication, and overhaul of machinery and equipment as needed.
• Check conveyor zones, belt tracking, photo eyes, and other system sensors to ensure proper alignment and functionality.
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment and parts associated with conveyor and personalization systems.
• Observe all safety procedures and ensure work complies with applicable electrical codes and facility standards.
• Review and interpret technical documents, such as blueprints, manuals, and schematics, to make informed maintenance decisions.
• Conduct quality testing and inspections on repaired equipment to confirm safe and reliable operation.
• Support general housekeeping and facility maintenance to keep the distribution center clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform preventive maintenance on fire extinguishers, dock doors, dock levelers, and other general warehouse equipment.
• Work with the maintenance staff to identify issues, prioritize repairs, and maintain a safe and functional work environment.
• Provide maintenance support within the Personalization department, including engraver equipment, sewing machines, personalization tools, and related machinery.
• Repair and maintain sewing machines and embroidery equipment used in personalization operations.
• Use hand and power tools, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other equipment to access and service machinery at various heights.
• Work at elevated heights on catwalks, platforms, and enclosed areas to maintain large sortation and overhead conveyor equipment.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, including crawling, climbing, walking, bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to at least 65 pounds on a regular basis.
• Operate forklifts and other motorized vehicles to transport tools, parts, and equipment throughout the facility.
• Support safe operations in both temperature-controlled production areas and non-temperature-controlled warehouse and stock areas.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• At least 2 years of technical, hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, or a closely related field.
• Working knowledge of conveyor systems, including the ability to troubleshoot and repair all major components.
• Experience with conveyor maintenance and conveyor system troubleshooting.
• Ability to maintain and repair material handling systems, including gears, chains, pulleys, belts, electric gear motors, rollers, and controls.
• Capability to maintain and repair sorter systems, including laser scanners, computers, and electronics.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic and complex repairs throughout the facility.
• Forklift certification and working knowledge of battery changing and watering requirements for MHE batteries.
• Proficiency in electrical work, including installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical equipment and parts.
• Ability to observe safety procedures and comply with electrical codes and facility safety standards.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
• Skill in troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and equipment manuals.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used in industrial maintenance and repair.
• Comfort working at heights from approximately 5 feet to 30 feet above ground on catwalks, platforms, and lifts.
• Ability to crawl, climb, and stand for extended periods of time while performing maintenance tasks.
• Capacity to perform continuous physical exertion, including walking, bending, lifting, standing, and climbing.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 65 pounds on a regular basis.
• Comfort working in both temperature-controlled and non-temperature-controlled areas of a large distribution facility.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience as a maintenance technician in industrial, distribution, or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics used in material handling and industrial machinery.
• Experience with motors, controls, and industrial electrical troubleshooting.
• Mechanical maintenance experience with sortation equipment and warehouse automation systems.
• Hands-on experience repairing sewing machines and embroidery equipment.
• Familiarity with engraving equipment and personalization tools used in production environments.
• Exposure to environments similar to large furniture, uniform, or embroidery operations and distribution centers.
• Ability to perform quality testing and inspections on repaired equipment to verify performance and safety.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Willingness to collaborate with a maintenance team and other departments to support operational goals.

Work Environment

This role is based in a very clean, large distribution facility with extensive walking throughout an expansive footprint. The primary schedule is on a 2-A shift: Sunday through Tuesday from 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Wednesday from 5:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Maintenance team members use motorized vehicles to transport tools and gear due to the size of the facility. The environment includes large sortation equipment and overhead conveyors, requiring work at heights ranging from approximately 5 feet to 30 feet above the ground. Safety equipment such as harnesses, railings, platforms, enclosed work areas, scissor lifts, and boom lifts are used regularly for tasks like changing lighting and replacing belts on overhead conveyors. The production side, where most work is performed, is temperature-controlled to support comfort and consistent operations, while the warehouse and stock areas are not temperature-controlled, and maintenance tasks may be required in those zones as well.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Olive Branch, MS.

The pay range for this position is $26.75 - $32.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
