– Work with all departments to ensure safety practices are followed, including chemical storage and use, slip/trip/fall hazard mitigation, machine guarding, safe manual material handling (ergonomics, lifting technique, task design), contractor safety management, and injury/illness prevention.

– Maintain accurate logs, incident reports, and compliance documentation to support audits by FDNY, DOB, OSHA, and insurance carriers.

– Serve as an active member of the property's safety/risk committee, partnering with cross-functional leaders to:

• Support implementation of the health, safety, and security management system

• Drive engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement in safety culture

• Review incidents, trends, and risk mitigation strategies at the property level

– Collaborate with People & Culture and property leadership on on-property investigations.

– Maintain a strong partnership with Rooms and Guest Experience teams to ensure security and safety protocols support a seamless guest experience.

– Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion at all times.

Requirements:

– Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive experience in hotel, commercial, or residential building security/safety management, with direct responsibility for Fire Life Safety compliance.

– Working knowledge of NYC Fire Code, FDNY regulations, and Local Law requirements (e.g., Local Law 26, fire alarm and sprinkler testing rules) and NYC Department of Buildings compliance obligations.

– Hands-on experience managing third-party contractors and vendors, including scope negotiation, scheduling, and quality control.

– Current or ability to obtain required FDNY certifications (e.g., Fire Safety Director, Fire Guard, or equivalent as required for the property's occupancy classification).

– Strong knowledge of incident response, investigative techniques, and emergency/crisis management procedures.

– Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities under pressure.

– High integrity and the ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

– Proficiency with MS Office, CCTV and access control systems, and fire alarm panels.

– First aid, CPR, and FDNY-required fire safety training at a minimum.
